Key term: dedicated refill
“Dedicated refill” means the refill was made for a named fragrance and bottle system. A similar brand name or bottle shape does not prove compatibility.
Check these four details before buying
- Exact fragrance name: Match the complete name, including words such as Pour Homme, Intense or a collection name.
- Concentration: Eau de Parfum and Eau de Toilette are different products. Choose the refill made for the concentration printed on your bottle.
- Refillable marking: Look for “refillable” on the bottle, packaging or official product information.
- Refill size and system: Confirm that the refill is intended for your bottle. Do not assume that every older bottle can be opened and refilled.
Quick compatibility check
Match the brand, full fragrance name, concentration and refillable bottle type. If one detail is different, check the manufacturer’s guidance before ordering.
A current example: L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Eau de Parfum
Issey Miyake states that the current L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Eau de Parfum bottle is unscrewable and refillable with its dedicated 150ml refill. Divine Perfume currently lists the L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme Eau de Parfum Refill 150ml.
The words Eau de Parfum matter here. A refill for this product should not be treated as a refill for a different Issey Miyake fragrance or concentration unless the manufacturer expressly confirms it.
How to refill carefully
Read the instructions supplied with both the bottle and refill. Work on a stable surface, keep the fragrance away from eyes and open flames, and stop if the parts do not connect easily. Do not force a cap, neck or refill mechanism.
Practical tip
Keep the refill packaging until you have completed the transfer. It carries the product name and other useful identification details.
